A Place Both Wonderful and Strange
I wouldn’t go so far as to dress up as one of the characters and attend the regular festivals held in the town of Snoqualmie – location of the Great Northern hotel – but I do possess all the Twin peaks books and even a fiercely protected cassette containing the tapes of Agent Cooper.
So no wonder I bought this. In hardback! And it is both wonderful and strange in itself, offering a thorough history of the first season; of the second that went – terrifically, as far as I’m concerned – off the rails after we found out who murdered Laura Palmer; the much-reviled film Fire Walk With Me; and then the totally wild and even crazier Twin Peaks: The Return. Part 8, anyone?
It’s a great story, well told, and if you like TP just even a little bit, I can’t recommend it enough. That’s it. That’s all there is to say. Oh, except this:
Asked in 2018 what Twin Peaks: The Return was about, David Lynch replied, ‘It’s about eighteen hours long.’
